Story

I'm walking 20 miles along the Thames river in the middle of London with 30 others from the gardening industry in support of Garden Re-Leaf Day - for whom I provide PR support.

Garden Re-Leaf Day is the gardening version of Comic Relief - with a dual aim of getting people into gardening and raising money for Greenfingers.

Greenfingers is a charity that creates gardens for children's hospices.  And although they've built 44 gardens since they began in 1998, many more are still needed.

Just watch this video of a garden being opened by an inspirational young lad moments after making Mark Wright ('off of Towie') weep like a child.  If you can forgive the awful music, it's actually very touching: http://bcove.me/zqtju3xf

Don't sponsor me because of the distance of the walk. 20 miles isn't going to kill me, although the 8am start and having to tweet/facebook about Garden Re-Leaf Day whilst walking might (especially if I fall in the Thames).

Instead, sponsor me because you want to help the severely disabled and terminally ill children, and their families, cope with the pressures of the problems they face.  A distraction from the seriousness of the child's condition is what they need, a light in the dark - and that is what your donation represents.

·      £1 could fund the supply of vegetable plants for the children to grow

·      £5 could fund the supply and planting of a sensory plant

·      £10 could buy a bird feeder and feed

·      £20 could provide paint to brighten up play areas

About the charity

Greenfingers is committed to supporting children and families through the creation of magical gardens at children's hospices throughout the UK. All the Greenfingers’ gardens are unique and are created to help make life a little better for children and families in hospices.
