Bradford garden centre group wins Yorkshire sustainability award

The team at a Bradford-headquartered garden centre group is celebrating after winning a regional sustainability award.

Yorkshire Garden Centres Group won the SME Business (up to £50m turnover) category at the inaugural Yorkshire Sustainability Excellence Awards, which were presented at a celebration lunch at Swinton Park in Ripon on 18th April.

"The category celebrates SMEs that are clear leaders in their field, setting an example for others to follow and driving progress across the board. We're proud that our Climate and Community initiatives have been recognised and rewarded with this award," said Yorkshire Garden Centre's Head of Marketing, Jo Dales.

Yorkshire Garden Centres beat Astonish, Kolorcraft, Sewell Construction and The Bio-D Company to win the award.

TheBusinessDesk.com joint managing director Alex Turner said: "I congratulate each and every firm who won an award today. We were thrilled with the very high standard and number of entries we received for these awards. We could have created a second shortlist that would also have been full of innovative organisations that are seeing strong results from their sustainability initiatives."

The awards were created by the founding group of partners—TheBusinessDesk.com, Clarion, Deloitte, and Swinton Estate—to recognise businesses and organisations that are making permanent and positive changes to their environmental impact.

The Yorkshire Garden Centres (YGC) group comprises Tong, Tingley, Otley and Bingley Garden Centres and the recently acquired Dean's York and Dean's Scarborough. Otley and Bingley Garden Centres were known as Stephen H Smith's before they were acquired by YGC in 2022.
