Our year of extremes has continued into the Autumn. So far this September we’ve had two reasonable weeks and then the weather turned cold and wet and that resulted in the third week of the month reporting a record low for September sales volumes over the past 5 years.
According to GTN’s Bestsellers records only the third week in September 2012 saw fewer items sold in UK garden centres.
However, the return to warmer, drier weather this week should ensure that overall September will be another month of the year when sales at garden centres are up year on year.
Then, with Christmas starting to open and go on sale across the country we’re all looking forward to more extremes with perhaps more records being broken as we move towards the end of the year. Happy Christmas trading everyone!
