Forest Garden invests in additional sawmill and treatment facilities

In response to the unprecedented fence panel demand as a result of the storms through late 2013 and into 2014, Forest Garden has invested in additional sawmill facilities to complement its existing Sennybridge, Mid-Wales site to double the company’s sawmill output in that region.

This move strengthens Forest’s position as the only UK fencing manufacturer with its own sawmills; Forest’s fully integrated operation has enabled its customers to significantly grow market share in a year of huge fencing demand.

The investment has also increased timber treatment capacity, adding an additional pressure treatment plant to add to the sizable facilities already operated at the Group’s Lockerbie sawmill and M&M Timber sites. This new facility will enable Forest to offer increased volumes of products in both green and brown pressure treatment, giving retailer and trade outlets even more choice for their customers.

Talking about the investment, Forest’s sales and marketing director John Gomersall said:

“This investment is very timely, in that we are able to immediately ramp up production levels to increase our stock holding of sawn timber material and finished products well in advance of any possible adverse winter weather, similar to that experienced at the end of 2013 and the beginning of 2014. This in turn enables us to make significant commitments to our customers in terms of the levels of stock we will hold on their behalf.  We are confident that the new investment will further support our on-going commitment to our customers to provide the best possible service and product offering in the market today.”

Forest is the UK's largest manufacturer and distributor of garden timber products and can be purchased in more than 1,000 retailers up and down the country.  For further information call 0844 248 9801 or email info@forestgarden.co.uk or join them on Facebook.
