Four Oaks success sets the stage for Durstons at Glee

Durstons has added another industry accolade to its name after its Advanced Tub & Basket Compost was crowned Best Retail Product/Service at the Four Oaks Trade Show, taking place this week in Cheshire.

Presented in partnership with HortWeek, the Four Oaks Awards celebrate innovation and excellence across professional horticulture, recognising the products, services and businesses helping to move the industry forward.  Durstons’ Advanced Tub & Basket Compost impressed judges with a formulation specifically developed to deliver strong, sustained performance in containers, hanging baskets and patio displays.

Part of Durstons’ next-generation Advanced range, Advanced Tub & Basket Compost combines 14 vital plant nutrients with six months’ controlled-release feed, technical wood fibre for improved moisture control and root development, plus Durstons’ Gro Fibre and Gro Boost technologies to support strong, healthy growth. Peat-free and developed through significant investment in R&D, it reflects the Durstons difference: performance at every level, every time.

For retailers, Advanced Tub & Basket Compost also brings a strong and highly visible proposition to the growing media category. Following Durstons’ major brand relaunch, the range features bold, contemporary packaging designed to stand out in-store while clearly communicating the product’s purpose and performance benefits to consumers.

Dan Durston, Sales Director at Durstons, said: “We’re incredibly pleased to see Advanced Tub & Basket Compost recognised as the Best Retail Product at Four Oaks. We have put a huge amount of work into developing products that genuinely perform for gardeners, while also giving retailers a range that is easy to understand, easy to sell and looks fantastic in-store.

“Tub and basket growing can be particularly demanding, so creating a growing medium that gives plants the support they need throughout the season was hugely important to us. To have that recognised by the Four Oaks judges is a fantastic endorsement of what we’ve created.”

Building momentum ahead of Glee

The award comes as Durstons continues to build momentum behind its Advanced range, demonstrating how performance-led peat-free growing media can deliver both strong gardening results and a compelling retail proposition. And the momentum does not stop at Four Oaks.

Next week, Durstons will head to Glee 2026 at the NEC Birmingham. Visitors will be able to discover the award-winning product first-hand, explore the wider Durstons portfolio and speak to the team about the latest developments across the brand. Find them in Hall 19, stand G02.
