Whilst overall plant sales were slightly down on 2021 volumes for the same week, tomato plant sales were a massive 56% up on last year.
And although total plant sales were 5% down on last year they were 25% higher than the same week in 2019 and 7% higher than 2017 when week 15 was also the first Easter trading week. Great news for volume plant sales and a good indicator that whatever the economic situation is, plants are still a purchase of choice for well-being.
Highlights of the week were:
Zonal Geraniums more than doubled their sales to move up to No 2 in the GTN Plants Chart – it won’t be long before they start their long run at No 1.
Pelargoniums were the highest climber up the chart, moving up 28 places to No 22.
Argyranthemum were the highest Top 50 re-entry, in at No 34.
