The organisers of Netherlands plant fair Plantarium 2019 (Boskoop, 21-23 August) have released more details of novelties to be judged at the event.
The following descriptions are based on details provided by the entrants.
Agapanthus 'Panaga' (Blue Infinity) has exceptionally large flowers with a diameter of more than 30cm, produced throughout the summer, hence ‘Blue Infinity’. The bright blue colour typical of Agapanthus is enhanced by the dark blue, central stripes on each petal. Stems grow to 1-1.5 m.
Astilbe 'Heavy Metal’ has flowers of very bright red, in contrast to varieties such as 'Fanal', 'Red Sentinel' and 'Glut', with thick, full panicles and striking large petals. Growing to 65-75cm, it is suitable for pots, garden use and as a cut flower.
Clematis ‘Little Lemons’, a variety of C.tangutica, is the first yellow miniature clematis and is already widely available in the UK. This mound forming clematis, which is attractive to bees and butterflies, is well suited for use in hanging baskets, window boxes or restricted spaces.
