Outdoor furniture and barbecue market surges ahead

The outdoor furniture and barbecue market grew by an impressive 18% in 2014, with LOFA members enjoying the lion’s share of the increase.

LOFA’s annual, independent, analysis of the market plus a review of its members' business over the past two years has thrown up some spectacular results: LOFA members increased their business by an aggregate 36% in 2014, out-performing the market.

The new data also confirms that shoppers still prefer to see and touch garden furniture and barbecues before purchase, although the internet continues to play a greater role in research. Three in 10 people buy on-line but, significantly, on-line business accounts for 40% of the value.

The secret formula for winning in the Outdoor sector is: Quality, Inspiration and Value.

Paul Bevington, LOFA’s Chairman, commented: “This updated report shows that LOFA members are at the forefront of moving the industry forward. Corroborated by internal data we now have information that will be invaluable to the whole industry. It is clear that the values and standards of LOFA membership are fundamental to the success of the industry.”
