After the 2012 washout, what's in store for 2013?
GTN Xtra asked leading garden industry figures to tell us what they think will happen in 2013. No-one was brave enough to (seriously) forecast the weather – but their predictions give us interesting insights into which the way the wind might blow this year. Our crystal ball gazers are:

  • Alan Roper of Blue Diamond
  • Amanda Sizer Barrett of Gardenex/PetQuip
  • Bob Hewitt of Klondyke
  • Iain Wylie of the GCA
  • Ian Boardman, GCA chief inspector
  • John McDowell of Westland
  • Neil Gow of GIMA
  • Nick Davies of Solus
  • Roger Crookes, consultant and GCA inspector

What are your predictions for 2013?  How many centres will be bought and sold during 2013?  When and where will Nicholas Marshall come back into the business?  What will be the next development in the Tesco/Dobbies strategy?  How will the new "instant" flower border products fare this spring?  How will the industry trade show picture look by the end of 2013?  Will the industry associations really work together to help gardening business overall?

Let us know and we'll publish some more insights next week.  e-mail mike.wyatt@tgcmc.co.uk or call us on 01733 775700.
