Good weather equals record sales for growing media
Another week goes by with exceptionally high sales levels for growing media at this time of the year. When the weather is right, the nation continues gardening for as long as it can. The final week of October had the highest sales of the past six years, up 17% on the previous high in 2009. Sales of bark and manure have seen increases as gardeners prepare for next spring and mulch around new plantings. Are you offering deals on bark when customers purchase new shrubs and trees for autumn planting? Star performers this week: - Westland Plant Protection Bark, 90 litre pack size, is the highest new entry at No 43.
- Westland Gro-Sure Farmyard manure increased sales by 110% and moved up 10 places to No 6.
- Arthur Bowers John Innes No 2, 25 litres, is this week’s biggest chart mover, up 23 places to No 20.
