Crocus buys its first bricks and mortar garden centre - and it won't be the last - Chelsea update

Following on from the announcement about the purchase of Dorney Court Kitchen Garden more "clicks and bricks" aquisitions appear to be in the pipeline.

Buyer John Hiorns told GTN Xtra on Monday at Chelsea that they have plans to buy more sites to extend their operation.  When asked which areas of the country they were looking at for their new business development John explained: "We know where all of our existing Crocus customers live from our seventeen years of internet trading. So we have a good idea where we will be able to reach them."

"The garden centre developments mean we can make more headway in selling the specialist and bespoke items we've been developing over recent years, of the sort we are selling here at Chelsea.  But we will have to learn about coffee too!"

Crocus celebrated at Chelsea with their 9th Best in Show award for their build and planting of the M&G Maltese Quarry Garden, pictured below.

Dorney Court Kitchen Garden located at Court Lane, Dorney, Buckinghamshire, has been sold to online garden centre and plant supplier, Crocus.

The sale was handled confidentially by Alexander Mackie Associates Ltd. on behalf of their client, Ryan Wasmuth.

The acquisition is Crocus's first bricks and mortar garden centre.

A spokesman for Alexander Mackie said: "We would like to convey our best wishes to our client and his family and to Crocus for the future."
