A biodegradable pot marketing trial is the result of a collaboration between Klondyke and Strikes, Allensmore Nurseries and Oxford Biodegradable Solutions.
This new pot is made from resin derived from sugar cane. The pot degrades very slowly when plants are growing on the nursery or being offered for sales but degrades quickly once planted by the customer in a patio pot or the border.
The pot needs to be surrounded by damp soil to speed up the degradation process.
The following images are from trials conducted at Allensmore Nurseries:

Before planting, planted for seven weeks, planted for 23 weeks.

Labelling
These plants will be supplied with biodegradable labels on biodegradable bamboo sticks.
The label has been designed to provide information about the plant but also ensure our customers know that the pot is biodegradable and should be planted with the plant. Labels have a QR code which takes customers to the Klondyke and Strikes website with more information about the pot.

Poster
Each store will be supplied by Klondyke and Strikes with a poster providing information about the pot, please make sure the plants are displayed in front of the poster.
