Great opportunity to give your career a kick start

Don’t delay – it’s time to get your application in for a Colegrave Seabrook Foundation Scholarship as the season is only open until 31st January.

Gaining a scholarship can be a useful boost to your bank balance, but it’s so much more than a financial aid, as Rebecca Gilroy from CAFRE college in Northern Ireland said: “What the Colegrave Seabrook Foundation does for young people in horticulture is so important. It opens doors, builds confidence and helps secure the future of the industry.”

Rebecca now works in the family retail nursery and landscape business and won a scholarship from the Foundation in 2024.

The application process is simple, easily accessible on line, and the awards, for a variety of scholarships all available this spring, could soon be making such a difference to your career.

Ross Dyke, studying for his BSc AgriTech at Pershore and also working as a commercial grower with Newey Ltd at Evesham told us: “I was lucky enough to be one of the Smart Garden Products scholarship winners from the Colegrave Seabrook Foundation. That award enabled me to buy essential equipment that I needed to help me with in my studies.”

Scholarships are awarded based upon ability, ambition and attitude and are not means tested. Funds are available to help with the costs of fees, travel, and the expenses of student life – in fact anything that will help you to complete your studies.

Emmeline Yourston, now a Glasshouse Nursery Grower at The Bransford Webbs Plant Company studied a Crop Technician apprenticeship at Pershore College while working, commented on her scholarship win in 2025: “Working right at the grass roots and supporting people at the start of their career journey, the Colegrave Seabrook Foundation scholarship has made a real and lasting difference to me.”

All the details of the scholarship and how you can apply to the Colegrave Seabrook Foundation, supports students studying Horticulture and associated subjects at UK and Ireland colleges and universities, can be found on their website www.colegraveseabrookfoundation.org.uk and remember to get your application in by the 31st January 2026.
