Show Your Colours Award IPM 2025 for Hydrangea paniculata ‘Groundbreaker Blush’

Hydrangea paniculata ‘Groundbreaker Blush’ from Diderk Heinje Pflanzenhandelsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG, Edewecht (DE) was awarded the Show Your Colours Award IPM 2025 during the IPM 2025 in Essen on Thursday 30 January.

The prize was presented by Eva Kähler-Theuerkauf on behalf of the IPM organisation, in the BIZZ Holland stand. Sebastiaan Heinje stated upon receiving the award that ‘Groundbreaker Blush’ is the result of an international collaboration between growers and breeders. It is wonderful to win this award together. The jury was also enthusiastic about this robust ground-covering Hydrangea. With its compact growth and long flowering period, it is a great and beautiful solution for planting areas.

Second and third place

Second place went to Hydrangea serrata 'Magic Pillow', which was submitted by Plant Select (BE). Fragaria x ananassa Duch Queeny, submitted by ABZ Seeds (NL), finished in third place. The other plants nominated included Dino Snack - Mediflora Lehrhuber GmbH, Helleborus ‘Winter Sparkle® White’ - Colour your Season, Hydrangea arborescens 'BAIful' EUPBRAF - FlowerWOW® - First Editions® (Bailey Nurseries International), Nordic Garden Beauties® - Gebr Seuren Kwekerijen B.V., Rhododendron Hybrid 'Maximus' en Rhododendron Hybrid 'Hercules' - Leybaert bv, Rosa Hybrid Sweet Home Roses® - Roses Forever ApS en Sarcococca hookerinana 'Winter Gem'® - Kwekerij Roos.

Judging

The plants and concepts nominated were exhibited in the BIZZ Holland stand in Hall 8 at the trade fair. The visitors had until Thursday morning to vote for their favourite plant/concept using special coins. A professional jury consisting of Sytse Berends, Blunt Communicatieadvies, Johan Debrabandere, category manager groen GRS Inkoop, Jos van Lint, Proba BV and Eva Kähler-Theuerkauf from IPM Essen, judged the entries on Thursday afternoon. The jury's verdict and the votes cast using coins resulted in the Show Your Colours Award IPM 2025 going to Hydrangea paniculata ‘Groundbreaker® Blush’.

The Show Your Colours Award IPM 2025 is a collaboration between IPM Essen and BIZZ Holland.
