Squire's turns plastic bag charge into children's charity cash

Squire’s Garden Centre has donated £3,700 to Greenfingers, a charity which aims to give children in hospices across the country magical gardens, in the most difficult of circumstances.

The donation was the result of carrier bag sales over the last year, with the 10p government plastic carrier bag charge being donated to the charitable cause. Squire’s Garden Centres has donated the charge to Greenfingers Charity for the last six years.

Colin Squire, Chairman Emeritus, Squire’s Garden Centres, comments: “We are delighted to once again be able to make this donation to Greenfingers, continuing our commitment to support the charity’s creation of inspiring gardens over the coming year, for hospice patients and their families to relax in and benefit from.”

Linda Petrons, Director of Fundraising and Communications, Greenfingers Charity, comments: “We are sincerely grateful for the continued support of Squire’s.  Such significant donations make an enormous difference to what we can do; enabling us to continue to create beautiful, well-designed outdoor spaces for children to enjoy with their families.  We are committed to creating specially designed, stimulating garden spaces that can bring many benefits to children with life-limiting conditions.”
