Hayes Symington Garden Centre in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, has burned down as a result of a fire in the early hours of Monday morning, 15th December.
A statement on the garden centres facebook page says: "We regret to inform you that we will be CLOSED for the foreseeable future - the Garden Centre & Cafe have burned down."
Peter Hayes & son Michael developed the site in Symington, Ayrshire in 1988. Michael Hayes is the 7th generation to be involved in the horticultural business.
As to Hayes, the loss of property and stock is always to be regretted - as is the great attendant inconvenience and consequential loss. I trust the silence as to any loss of life or limb remains unbroken.
