Phlox 'Olympus' (Paniculata Group) was proclaimed the best KVBC Novelty at PLANTARIUM|GROEN-Direkt 2022. The plant was submitted by Rijnbeek and Son Perennials BV from Boskoop and Compass Plants BV from Hillegom.

“Phlox 'Olympus' has striking variegated foliage and red young shoots. This Phlox is a welcome new addition to the range, especially with its purple flowers. It’s very suitable for use in both private gardens and public green spaces. The plants are healthy and attractively presented,” was the KVBC jury’s conclusion.

Seven silver and eleven bronze medals

Besides the gold medal for the Best Novelty, the jury also awarded silver medals to seven plants and bronze medals to another eleven novelties. 

38 plants evaluated 

A total of 46 plants had been submitted for the Best KVBC Novelty at this first edition of the PLANTARIUM|GROEN-Direkt fair. 38 of those plants were eventually evaluated, because some participants were sadly forced to withdraw their plants from the contest due to unforeseen circumstances. The novelties were evaluated in the Best KVBC Novelty category by expert inspection committees of the Koninklijke Vereniging voor Boskoopse Culturen (Royal Boskoop Horticultural Society).
