Garden Pride Reindeer Experience boosts hospice donation
A sharp increase in the number of visitors to their Reindeer Experience has enabled Garden Pride in Sussex to more than double their donation to charity.
Santa’s grotto and reindeer herd is always a major attraction at the garden centre in Ditchling. A small charge is made for entry with each child receiving a quality gift – the most popular present this Christmas was a Meerkat soft toy.
Each year Garden Pride make a donation from the proceeds of the grotto to their local hospice, who supply volunteers to assist Santa over the busy Christmas weekends.
Because the grotto was so popular this year Garden Pride were able to increase their donation from £7,500 in 2011 to nearly £13,000.
“Christmas is a wonderful time in the garden centre and all our staff enjoy working with the volunteers from St Peters and St James Hospice," said Trevor Wenham of Garden Pride.
"We are really grateful to our customers who visited and supported our Reindeer Experience and helped us to raise nearly £13,000 for the valuable work carried out by this worthy local charity."
