Mr Fothergill’s enters long-term supply chain partnership

As part of its ongoing accelerated growth journey, Mr Fothergill’s Seeds Ltd has entered a multi-year partnership with Metro Supply Chain Inc., a leading international logistics and supply chain solutions provider.

Following an extensive selection process, Metro Supply Chain will manage Fothergill’s “warehousing and pick, pack, and dispatch” operations across the seeds, tools, and accessories business. This partnership will be pivotal for future development and cover both the business-to-business and direct-to-consumer operations, with a combined annual retail value of over £50 million.

Chief Executive Officer of Fothergill’s, Michael Yates, commented; “This is a really important step on our transformation and acceleration journey. Our partnership with Metro Supply Chain will allow us to improve the customer experience, increase our output capacity, and crucially, reinvest cost savings into future business growth.

“Our new partner, Metro Supply Chain, brings an exceptional international reputation that enhances our ability to meet growing demand whilst maintaining high standards for customers. By outsourcing this element of our supply chain operations, we’re laying the groundwork for a stronger, more agile business—one that’s focused on growing our brands, innovating our product offerings, and ultimately reaching more existing and new gardeners as a part of our purpose of “Helping Everyone Grow”.

Metro Supply Chain’s facility is located just five miles from Fothergill’s headquarters in Newmarket. The partnership will also leverage the latest order fulfilment automation technology to improve service delivery, designed to enhance order accuracy and speed.

Vice President and Managing Director of Metro Supply Chain UK, Stuart Ager, commented; “We are excited to support Fothergill’s ambitious growth journey. With our deep expertise in supply chain management and investment in local assets, we are ready to elevate their customer service to new heights.”

Yates emphasised the importance of this step in driving growth across the business. “This move is just one part of a larger strategic plan to modernise and strengthen Fothergill’s. We’re working closely with our suppliers and retail partners to enable our brands to reach more consumers across the UK, Australia and North America.”
