A drop in volume sales of 6% during August for growing media has taken some of the gloss off the overall performance, but year to date sales are still running at nearly 8% up year on year.
Even if not so much growing activity happened in August, it is still up on last year and we will probably see further growth this Autumn.
Highlights of the week were:
Even after all the TV media coverage about peat, Westland Jack’s Magic All Purpose Compost, 60 litres, increased sales by over 50% to be the second biggest volume bestseller.
And Evergreen Garden Care Levington Multipurpose + John Innes 56 litres stayed at No 1 in the GTN chart.
Taylors Bulb Fibre 10 litres was the highest chart climber as bulb sales accelerate, up 37 places to No 10.
