Johnsons Seeds, one of the UK's longest established and best known brands with a history dating to 1820, has re-launched its retail seed range for the 2016 season. The new-look packet design and format were carefully formulated following extensive market research with gardening consumers.
The crisp, contemporary design across the new packets and POS material balances the company's heritage with an upmarket, modern feel. "The range is still instantly identifiable as Johnsons, but the re-design brings it into the modern gardening world", says the company's Helen Clayton. "We feel sure consumers will appreciate this makeover".
Seed packets are now clearer, feature a strong varietal image and show relevant icons, such as the RHS Perfect for Pollinators and RHS Award of Garden Merit.
Each standard packet still includes the added-value free colour plant label. The reverse incorporates a seedling identifier image, a detailed, easy-to-understand sowing and growing guide, plus the plant's botanical name.
Other improvements include the expansion of Johnsons Organics range, and an increase in the number of chilli varieties offered, all now with a heat scale given on the packets to aid consumer selection.
The brand is owned by the Mr Fothergill’s group.
