Twenty eight intrepid members of the garden industry (thirty if you include HTA CEO's dogs Max and Murphy) have started out from Ruxley Manor Garden Centre on their 20 mile fundraising walk to Clifton Nurseries in Paddington, West London.
After a hearty breakfast served by the team at Ruxley Manor the walkers set off on their journey just before 8:30 am this morning. Their route takes them over Blackheath Common, past the Cutty Sark, under the Greenwich Foot Tunnel to the Isle of Dogs, past Canary Wharf, along the Thames to the Tower of London, over The Millenium Bridge, along the South Bank, past the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace then accross Hyde Park to Paddington.
The group will be stopping at 11:00am to take part in the mass #Glovies.
To date the walkers have raised almost £6,000 via their Just Giving pages. If it's the only thing you do on Garden Re-Leaf Day, please make a donation via one of the links below. Walk organiser, Matthew Mein of Glee told GTN Xtra at the start he was hoping a total in excess of £10,000 would be raised as a result of everyones walking efforts.

It's garden re-Leaf Day today and the fun, fundraising and publicity has already started.
A number of garden centres held Garden Re-Leaf Day Quiz nights yesterday with more taking place today and over the weekend. The Thames Walk is well underway and many, many other events are taking places in garden centers across the country.
Boyd Douglas-Davies, one of the founders of Garden Re-Leaf Day said last night "the number of centres, suppliers and individuals taking part in Garden Re-Leaf Day 2015 is superb. Having had a cool March it couldn't come at a better time to kick start the season." "Garden Re-Leaf Day 2015 has already had 6 hours of TV exposure this week and numerous regional and local stories in the press." "And across Hillview centres we will at long last answer the age old question... "HOW LONG IS A PIECE OF STRING?"! "One industry, one event, one huge result!"
What are you doing for Garden Re-Leaf Day - make the most of it, it is our gardening chartity and awareness day. Please send photos and infomration about your activities and we will publish them all in GTN Xtra over the weekend and next week. Send to: trevor.pfeiffer@tgcmc.co.uk

See GCA Conference Glovies here
Boyd Douglas-Davies opened the GCA Conference 2015 with a call for the industry to set a new world record for... Glovies and by the end of conference Glovies were being taken all over the conference venue.
Boyd told GTN Xtra; "I have managed to go through the whole conference without really highlighting Briers support for the Glovies campaign. If it hadn't been for the beer they bought me last November the idea would never have been born!" Getting a Greenfingers Glove into a selfie or any other picture is one of the ideas being used to get maximum publicity for Garden Re-Leaf Day 2015 on March 27th.
Garden centres are reminded to register their Garden Re-Leaf Day activities with the Greenfingers team so that they can be included in all of the national press publicity which will be generated at the upcoming Garden Press Event.
